tweaking ancient games

Senet or also known as the passing is a board game that was played in ancient Egypt and still played to this day people refer the game as the predecessor to the modern day backgammon.
The aim of the game is for a player to move around the board and get all of their pieces of the board before their opponent.
Players in my iteration of the game are able to choose whether they wish to move their pieces forwards or backwards allowing a more strategic style of play giving the option to either race forward to the finish or move their pieces back in a way to hinder there opponents play by forming blocks or blockades
